What SEO Strategies Improve Organic Search Rankings for SaaS Websites?

In the ever-evolving world of SaaS, SEO strategies can make a significant impact on a website's organic search rankings. We've gathered insights from SEO Consultants and Heads of Content, among others, to share one strategy that made a real difference. From creating engaging video guides to expanding landing pages and partnerships, explore the seven powerful tactics these experts have successfully implemented.

    • Create Engaging Video Guides
    • Simplify SaaS Landing Pages
    • Implement Programmatic SEO
    • Develop Content Hubs
    • Align Content with User Intent
    • Leverage Programmatic SEO Templates
    • Expand Landing Pages and Partnerships

    Create Engaging Video Guides

I assisted in creating video guides on how to use the software. This particular software was an e-commerce platform specifically created for printing companies. The complex nature of it meant it was difficult to clearly represent the functionality and true benefits through traditional methods. Online demos were great, but you first had to get them to inquire.

The video guides were instantly available and significantly increased engagement on the website, with the knock-on effect of (alongside other content strategies) increased rankings and conversion rates.

    Simplify SaaS Landing Pages

SaaS landing pages often overcomplicate their landing pages, and the user doesn't know what they are looking at and will bounce. Instead, make sure landing pages immediately convey value. This clarity improves user engagement and behavior metrics, directly impacting organic search rankings.

    Implement Programmatic SEO

One effective SEO strategy for a SaaS website was the implementation of programmatic SEO. This involved automating the creation of numerous highly optimized landing pages tailored for a wide range of specific, long-tail keywords relevant to the SaaS industry. By systematically addressing these niche queries, we significantly increased the site's visibility and relevance for targeted search terms. This strategy led to a noticeable improvement in organic search rankings, as it not only expanded the website's keyword footprint but also catered to very specific user intents, which is crucial in the competitive SaaS market.

    Develop Content Hubs

One powerful SEO strategy we've employed for SaaS sites, which leads to vastly improved organic search performance, is the implementation of informational content hubs. Clustering expert and relevant content enhances a site's authority and signals to Google (and users) that the brand is the go-to voice in the given sector. Additionally, hubs cater to top-of-the-funnel queries in one well-organized space, driving useful site traffic to commercial pages. This strategy has always proved to be a seamless and smart way to elevate brand visibility and credibility.

    Align Content with User Intent

For a SaaS website, knowing what your audience is really looking for is very important in SEO. At ZenMaid, we've seen big wins by focusing on the real intent behind keywords. It's not just about using popular search terms; it's about diving into why people search for them. By aligning our content with our audience's actual questions and needs, we've climbed higher in search rankings. This tactic isn't just about matching words; it's about connecting with user needs, and that's what Google loves too.

So, my top tip? Get into your audience's mind. Choose keywords that mirror their true intentions. It's a simple step, but it's brought us significant improvements in our SEO performance.

    Leverage Programmatic SEO Templates

One strategy that's worked well for us is employing a programmatic approach where possible. One example is a SaaS client we worked with in the nonprofit sector. Through consultations with them, we noticed that they had an incredible ecosystem of data within their platform. Their target audience was likely to make searches that were combinations of location + category + various data points in their ecosystem. We used this knowledge to create about eight different programmatic SEO templates, which turned into hundreds of pages. This one strategy alone grew their site from 1,000 to 30,000 monthly visitors.

    Expand Landing Pages and Partnerships

For one of our customers, Evolo—which provides building/office automation—we conducted keyword research and set up additional landing pages that showcase different aspects of their software solution, as well as landing pages featuring their integrations and partners.

This strategy helped increase organic traffic by 50% in the first month and by 100% in the first three months, allowing their site to start ranking for new keywords. Some of their target keywords went from ranking at positions 50-100 to ranking 10-20. The partner page also provided a good way for them to exchange backlinks with their partners, boosting their overall rankings.
